PPLAB Minutes
October 7, 2021
itv Of
Louisville
PARKS, RECREATION & OPEN SPACE
vi. Michelle Shroder (2 % yr. old child) would like to see more young age
appropriate equipment. Likes the 'poured in place' rubber playground surface as
is seen at Heritage Park. Playworld Systems seems to have the most options.
Maintain shade.
• Public Comment Survey
i. 67% voted for Playworld, 33% voted for Berliner as preferred vendors
• Board Discussion
i. Ellen: Thank you for public attendees! Swings — no matter the park, swings tend
to be the most popular. Important to have playground areas for many different
age groups. Are we limited to current playground footprint? Nathan: limited to
footprint.
ii. Shelly: Are metal slides an option with Playworld? Current design is all plastic,
but metal slides are an option.
iii. Laurie: Would Playworld include ropes/zipline? Erin: Yes, we could possibly
implement these designs.
iv. Dave: Likes Playworld for longevity and maintenance. Good work by staff to
bring all ideas forward. Likes how Playworld can accommodate many age
groups.
v. Steve: Likes Playworld design as well. Wants structure that will get the most use.
• Board Vote:
i. Unanimous vote for Playworld
• Go to www.LousivilleCo.gov/Cottonwood to survey all options and give input. In -Person
Open house Saturday October 9th from 1-3 p.m.
8.
