What qualifications, skill sets, and relevant experiences do you have that would be beneficial for this <br />position? <br />I have a master's degree in public health and lead the Prevention Services Division at the Colorado <br />Department of Public Health and Environment. Work in public health requires a systems thinking approach <br />that looks at how our policy decisions ultimately affect people's health and well-being. Having worked in <br />state government for 10 years and at the local level before that, I am familiar with both the power and <br />constraints faced by government. I have extensive experience in management and leadership as well as <br />the public health skills of assessment and strategic planning. Recently I created a built environment unit at <br />the state public health department in order to bridge public health with the climate change and <br />environmental justice work in the department. I also have policy and communication experience from my <br />work at the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing as well as significant experience with the <br />legislative and budgeting process at the federal and state level. <br />5.
