Economic Vitality Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 22, 2021 <br />Page 4 of 4 <br />most potential for transit -oriented development. Mayor Pro Tern Maloney <br />questioned what can be done to ensure that new residential development can <br />be affordable for the workforce. Deputy City Manager Zucarro responded that <br />inclusionary housing as well as partnerships with the Housing Authority can <br />help with this issue. Director Pierce confirmed that workforce housing is an <br />issue that businesses often identify as a challenge. <br />Chair Dickinson asked for what is needed to move forward. Director Pierce <br />answered that the property discussion can be continued during the next <br />meeting. Staff will also bring feedback regarding the properties that have <br />previously been discussed. Ultimately, the Council will weigh-in on these ideas <br />which will give EVC more direction moving forward. <br />IX. Discussion- Economic Vitality Strategic Plan: Director Pierce referenced the <br />strategic plan items for consideration and asked for comments. Chair Dickinson <br />confirmed that this discussion will be pushed to the November meeting. <br />X. Staff Updates: Director Pierce stated that AMP Robotics executed a lease at <br />1875 Taylor Avenue and hopes to be in the new space next May. Director <br />Pierce highlighted Ace Hardware's ribbon cutting and mentioned both the <br />Winter Outdoor Dining Program and the reinstatement of the temporary signage <br />requirements. <br />Councilmember Dickinson remarked on both the lack of closures and amount of <br />business assistance agreements and thanked Director Pierce for her work. <br />Mayor Pro Tern Maloney echoed these comments. <br />Public comment from Mike Kranzdorf, downtown commercial property owner. <br />Mr. Kranzdorf thanked Councilmember Dickinson for his comments regarding <br />engaging businesses about upcoming business items. He also questioned <br />whether there could be any open forum or open discussion added to meeting <br />agendas. Mr. Kranzdorf also gave a list of recent City Council policies that have <br />effected businesses but were not discussed by the EVC. <br />XI. Recent Articles: No comments. <br />XII.
