Roll call — All members were present. Those who missed the last meeting <br />introduced themselves (Nate, Conner, Jocelyn) <br />III. Approval of Agenda — Agenda was approved. <br />IV. Approval of Minutes — Minutes were approved. <br />V. Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda - None <br />VI. Presentation from EDI Task Force member Hazleena Hashim. — <br />Hazleena and another member, Lyanne Terada walked us through the history of <br />the EDI Taskforce and their actions over the past year. They provided a brief <br />summary of tensions in the community and their recommendations to Council, <br />but mainly focused on action items that specifically concern youth. Suggestions <br />included creating space for youth to discuss and advance racial equity and social <br />justice, recognizing cultural celebrations (holidays, awareness months), profiling <br />youth in the community who are working to advance EDI, and more. Jessica will <br />send out the documents from this presentation with December's meeting packet. <br />VII. Teambuilding - Mandy and Jessica had every YAB member answer an <br />icebreaker question. <br />Vill. Office Elections — Share speeches, then vote on Chair, Vice -Chair, and <br />Secretary — Kaelen ran unopposed for Chair. Soren, Stella, and Sebi all ran for <br />Vice -Chair and Stella was elected. Arihant and Max both ran for Secretary and <br />Arihant was elected. <br />IX. Advancing EDI in our Community — Share what you've noticed since <br />our last meeting. Anything the City can improve? — Soren mentioned a <br />positive thing she noticed —handicap accessible trails. Kaelan talked about the <br />importance of educating people about appropriate language and health <br />concerns. Stella suggested hosting recurring educational or celebratory events at <br />the library, or helping to educate people using QR codes. Chelsea added that QR <br />codes could be used for a scavenger hunt. Max noted that the City seems to be <br />on the right track, but could communicate better.
