LL Cityof CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />Louisville AGENDA ITEM 713 <br />COLORADO • SINCE 1878 <br />SUBJECT: EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION TASK FORCE — FINAL <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />DATE: NOVEMBER 1, 2021 <br />PRESENTED BY: MEGAN DAVIS, INTERIM CITY MANAGER <br />ANTHONY GRAVES, GRAVES CIVIC SOLUTIONS <br />EMILY SHAMSID-DEAN, ESD CONSULTING, LLC <br />SUMMARY: <br />The City's consulting partner for the EDI Task Force, Graves Civic Solutions (Anthony <br />Graves and Emily Shamsid-Deen) will provide an overview of the Task Force's final <br />report and recommendations for addressing and improving equity, diversity, and <br />inclusion in the city of Louisville. The recommendations, developed over the course of <br />the past 7 months with input from the task force and other members of the community, <br />reflect opportunities for the City and other community partners to address EDI in five <br />key areas: <br />• Safe and Welcoming Environment (including Language Justice) <br />• Housing <br />• Public Accommodation/Access to Services <br />• Youth Engagement <br />• Public Health <br />Staff is requesting City Council input and feedback on the recommendations in order to <br />develop next steps in the City's efforts toward addressing EDI in the community. Staff <br />will then begin work on specific initiatives, with a focus on items for immediate action <br />and other items that may take additional time and resources to develop. As specific EDI <br />efforts are identified and developed, City Council may consider how they fit into the <br />2022 work plan. <br />The presentation can be found in attachment 1, and the final report in attachment 2. <br />Attachment 3 provides links to the EDI Task Force meeting materials including agendas <br />and minutes. <br />EDI TASK FORCE BACKGROUND: <br />In early 2021 City Council approved a resolution to establish an Equity, Diversity and <br />Inclusion (EDI) Task Force in the city of Louisville. The Task Force was created to <br />support community -based and expert -assisted conversations about which EDI issues <br />are most important and what the City can and should do to address them based on <br />fuller information about the concerns, ideas, and expectations of the community, <br />especially residents who are Black, Indigenous, and/or persons of color, businesses, <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />
