SUBJECT: ECONOMIC VITALITY STRATEGIC PLAN & 2022 INITIATIVES
DATE: DECEMBER 17, 2021 PAGE 5 OF 5
Economic Vitality staff serve as liaisons to both the Louisville Chamber of Commerce
and the Downtown Business Association —attending each organization's monthly board
meeting. Through these opportunities staff shares program updates, new or pending
Council items, etc. Going forward, the annual Business Forum provides the City an
opportunity to engage with businesses in -person, both for information sharing and
networking. This event has not been offered since 2019 due to the pandemic. It is part
of our plan next year to engage the EVC about topics and format and then to hold this
event in Q1 2022.
Although surveys are a method of gaining input, they also offer an opportunity to inform
and educate. The City conducted two business impact surveys during the COVID-19
pandemic as well as one survey related to the Outdoor Dining program. These survey
tools engaged businesses about potential policy decisions that could result from the
input received. As noted in the 2022 Supporting Actions, a Business Satisfaction Survey
is planned. The EVC could consider specific issues or relevant topics it wishes to
communicate with the business community about through this tool.
RECOMMENDATION:
Review strategic plan status and provide direction to staff on revisions and priorities for
2022.
ATTACHMENTS:
• Attachment #1: Economic Vitality Strategic Plan Matrix
• Attachment #2: Louisville Biz E-Newsletter (November 2021)
Agenda Packet P. 11
