City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />November 19, 2021 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />Mayor Pro Tern Maloney agreed all of the candidates are qualified and would bring good <br />experience. He stated the most important skill he is looking for is leadership; including <br />strategic leadership, supervision, and administrative skills. He stated Jeffrey Durbin <br />showed great strength in strategic leadership, community relations, economic vitality, and <br />council -staff relations. He felt Durbin would do a good job at organizational assessment <br />and economic vitality. <br />Councilmember Brown noted the public input showed they too liked Durbin. He liked the <br />economic vitality, sustainability, and EDI initiatives with which Durbin has experience; <br />specifically implementing sustainability initiatives. He liked Durbin's vision on EDI, building <br />relationships with the community, and working on Comprehensive Plans. <br />Councilmember Fahey felt Durbin would be a leader on sustainability issues. She felt he <br />would be able to form good relationships with staff and the broader community and he <br />would make EDI a part of the City's culture. <br />Councilmember Dickinson stated Bentley Henderson showed a good understanding of <br />process and government; Victoria Simonsen was versatile and adaptable with a good skill <br />set and experience; and Alexa Barton was a strong leader and would be a great team <br />leader. He especially appreciated how Durbin noted that relationships are key and he is <br />passionate about what he does. He feels Durbin would have positive interactions with the <br />community, council, and staff. Durbin would be his top recommendation. <br />Councilmember Most liked Durbin's commitment to innovation and empowering staff as <br />well as his commitment to integrity. Henderson is thoughtful and aware of the dynamics of <br />being an effective leader. Simonsen showed great management skills and resilience. <br />Barton is a seasoned leader with a clear vision of what she is trying to do and manages <br />herself with integrity. <br />Mayor Stolzmann stated Barton has a great background and ability to accomplish things <br />and understand critical tasks. Henderson had excellent ideas on affordable housing and <br />experience in a number of areas including sustainability that would translate very well to <br />Louisville. Durbin has great experience and an ability to bring collaboration and maximize <br />the work atmosphere. He also had good ideas on sustainability and a good understanding <br />of role definition. He would be a good fit for Louisville. She appreciated Simonson's <br />Boulder County experience and work in communities of different sizes; she could hit the <br />ground running. <br />Public Comments <br />John Leary, 1116 LaFarge, stated he supports Henderson for the position. He feels he is <br />the best fit for Louisville and would bring good experience. He stated he called Archuleta <br />County for some references and heard very good things. He stated he fears Durbin would <br />get out ahead of the Council. <br />
