RESOLUTION NO. 1 <br />SERIES 2021 <br />A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL LOCAL LANDMARK <br />DESIGNATION FOR THE LOUISVILLE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH BUILDING LOCATED <br />AT 701 GRANT AVENUE <br />WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the Louisville Historic Preservation <br />Commission (HPC) an application requesting a landmark eligibility determination for a <br />historical property located at 701 Grant Avenue, legally described as Lots 10-11, Block 8, <br />Pleasant Hill; and <br />WHEREAS, the HPC have reviewed the application and found it to be in compliance <br />with Chapter 15.36 of the Louisville Municipal Code, including Section 15.36.050.A, <br />establishing criteria for landmark designation; and <br />WHEREAS, the HPC has held a properly noticed public hearing on February 22, 2021 <br />regarding the proposed landmark application, where evidence and testimony were entered into <br />the record, including findings in the Louisville Historic Preservation Commission Staff Report <br />dated February 22, 2021; and <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville First Baptist Church Building has social significance <br />because it exemplifies the cultural and social heritage of the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville First Baptist Church Building has architectural significance <br />because it is a unique representation of a wood -frame vernacular church building from early <br />20th century Louisville; and <br />WHEREAS, the HPC finds that these and other characteristics specific to the <br />Louisville First Baptist Church Building have social and architectural significance as <br />described in Section 15.36.050.A of the Louisville Municipal Code. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br />Recommend to the City Council approval of the local landmark designation for the <br />Louisville First Baptist Church property, located at 701 Grant Avenue, based on the social <br />and architectural significance of the property. <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of February, 2021. <br />Lynda Haley, Chairperson <br />1 <br />
