City Council
Study Session Summary
January 11, 2021
• Asked Council to be sure no promises are being made to the public about
possible policy changes.
• Sustainability Coordinator Katie Baum is leaving the City for a position with
FEMA.
• Call center load is slowing down. Monday is a holiday and we hope to allow call
center staff the day off for some rest.
• City will no longer be staffing the DAC after today as the numbers of people
visiting are much smaller. Will staff it again if needed. Council can staff the table
if interested.
• City staff currently have twelve COVID cases and working to contain those.
• Workers comp claims starting to come in for staff that were in the field during the
fire.
• Rec Center is open; national director of NOAA will be at the center today
meeting with his staff.
• Ascent Church will stay open until at least 1/21 for placards.
City Manager Durbin noted there is a concern from various areas including DHSEM that
we don't overpromise on what we can deliver.
City Manager Durbin encouraged the Councilmembers to take advantage of the
counseling available. We are all affected by the trauma of this event either direction or
from working with residents.
Mayor Stolzmann noted people will need clarification on they choose to opt out of the
debris removal now if they can opt in later if they change their minds.
Mayor Stolzmann noted she and Deputy City Manager Davis will be participating in a
meeting the County is having with some builders.
Mayor Stolzmann stated she is in conversation with legislators about possible policy
changes they may want to bring forward to address fire issues.
Mayor Pro Tern Maloney said HOAs are interested in knowing if they can know who in
their neighborhood have and have not opted in to the debris removal group.
Councilmember Leh asked if mental health support services can be advertised for
residents.
Councilmember Dickinson stated the Council will want to look at how building costs are
impacting community and how or if some people rebuild.
Adjourned 10.06 am.
Submitted 1112122 Meredyth Muth
