City Council
Study Session Summary
January 21, 2022
• Rec Center working on a punch pass program for free visits for affected
homeowners for 2022.
• Water pick up at the Rec Center continues.
• Still have about 30 properties for which we need contact information.
• February 2 staff will host a a board/commission onboarding session for new
members.
• The library gave out 1000 KN95 masks in 3 minutes yesterday; more are on
order and the Rec Center and Fire District also have ordered some.
• COVID numbers looking a bit better but it is still out there.
• The Chamber has 7000 masks for businesses and is working on delivery.
• Economic Vitality is working with the Chamber on a Business 2.0 survey that will
go out next week.
• Travelers Insurance is on site assessing damage today; staff is tracking that
process and how it overlaps with FEMA.
• The recovery manager is reviewing purchasing polices to make sure they align
with FEMA. We want to make sure procurement is done property now so don't
have to recreate it later. Also reviewing labor records and working on debris
removal reimbursement.
• Mayor and City Manager met yesterday with Xcel how best to do a coordinated
rebuilding effort.
Councilmember Leh agreed people are not happy with the lack of air quality information.
BCPH needs to be more transparent on what is happening or just be clear they don't
have the information yet if that is the case. People need to know something is moving
forward.
Councilmember Leh noted his dismay at the quality of the meetings Boulder County has
hosted.
Councilmember Brown stated renters have unique challenges and asked if the City
could gather some information to help renters deal with landlords and know their rights.
Councilmember Most agreed BCPH needs to get more information about what the
outdoor air quality testing process is. Information on indoor air quality is also a concern.
People need to know what the baseline should be so they can compare to what they
have now and what to be looking for.
Councilmember Most asked if staff has any idea of what the scale of the financial
impact to the City will be. City Manager Durbin stated the Finance Committee will start
that discussion at their meeting on Monday.
Mayor Pro Tern Maloney stated cooperation with the County is important but their
messaging from last night was not great and they didn't address the timeline well.
