Planning Commission
Meeting Minutes
December 9, 2021
Howe asked if demand for square footage ever increased over time.
Vasicek replied that he would not say that never happened, but from a business
standpoint they did not like to do expansions. They modeled heavily up front and chose
spaces to grow into.
Howe noted that Fusion Academy would be on the back side of the building and asked
if they foresaw the need for a pass -through.
Vasicek replied that visibility and signage were always concerns for visitors and
potential students. That said, they liked the opportunity to be farther from the main road.
He noted that there was a pass -through connecting to nearby shops that parents and
staff could use.
Diehl asked if there would be a sign on the building and if there would be any other type
of wayfinding.
Vasicek replied that the landlord had approved a sign on the building and a separate
standing sign. He noted that they would not be included on the existing monument sign.
Diehl asked if the typical student left the building for lunch.
Vasicek stated that they did not offer food service. Some students left to get lunch within
walking distance, some used delivery services, and some brought their lunches. He
added that it also depended on the students' schedules whether they were around for
lunch.
Brauneis observed that there were no members of the public in attendance to make
comments.
Hoefner asked staff if they would review signage.
Brackett Hogstad stated that signs would need to comply with the municipal sign code.
She noted that they had submitted a tenant finish that staff had yet to review.
Diehl stated that it was an exciting proposal and thanked the applicant for picking
Louisville.
Moline agreed with Commissioner Diehl and added that the staff memo captured the
exact rationale for why this proposal deserved support and approval. He was glad to
see this learning model come to Louisville.
Howe stated that he could not think of a reason why we wouldn't want this to be in this
building and he had thought about it a lot. He stated that it offered a good opportunity
for an alternate schooling option nearby and thought it was a great location for a school.
