City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />January 4, 2022 <br />Page 5 of 8 <br />Councilmember Most stated we have a lot of hard work ahead of us and we are going to <br />have to work hard to make sure those who lost homes can come back. <br />Councilmember Dickinson stated we need to focus on the people. There is a lot of work <br />ahead of us and it is important we keep in mind the most vulnerable in the community. He <br />stated there is so much work going on behind the scenes and it is not always visible but <br />everyone should know how hard everyone is working and how complicated this is. He <br />asked people to be patient and stated we will get through it. <br />Councilmember Leh stated everyone is heartbroken but the community is here to support <br />everyone. He noted staff is working around the clock to make sure people can go back to <br />their homes and get the water back on. He stated we all want make sure everyone who <br />wants to rebuild can rebuild. <br />Public Comments <br />Russell Moore, stated he lost his home and wants to make sure that young families who <br />will lost homes can continue to live here. He asked that approval processes for rebuilds <br />be expedited and that the net zero code requirements be repealed for rebuilds. He stated <br />his concern that only the affluent will be able to rebuild. <br />RJ Harrington, 457 East Raintree Court, stated this is a climate emergency and we need <br />to redouble our efforts on sustainability. <br />Martin Pilinski, 1016 Arapahoe Circle, asked what steps have to take place before reentry <br />can happen. <br />Cynthia Come, 438 Jefferson Avenue, stated this has been a huge impact on our <br />community. She stated we need to think about transparency and ethics and to use all the <br />resources at our disposable. Let's take care of our residents and neighbors. <br />Nick Jacobs, stated we have all lost so much and we need to move forward. <br />Mayor Stolzmann stated there is lots of help available for community members and she <br />encouraged people to get help if they need it. <br />Councilmember Brown asked Chief Hayes what mental health services are available for <br />residents. Hayes stated Community Reach will have some specific help available; details <br />will be available soon. <br />Councilmember Leh warned residents to look out for unscrupulous people right now and if <br />they find that to report them to the Police Department. <br />
