City Council
Study Session Summary
February 17, 2022
We are continuing to work to get funding from DOLA to hire a site
superintendent to coordinate construction in the neighborhoods. We are working
in conjunction with Superior on an contract. We will do an RFP process. We are
looking for a company that do this work and that has the ability to staff up and
down as needed.
The County has received about 500 right -of -entry forms for debris removal of the
total 554 homes destroyed. We also have 30 demo permit applications already
submitted to the Planning Department with 16-18 of them approved and
underway. We are working to contact the remaining 20 or so about if they want
to participate in the group debris removal process or if they plan to opt out.
On February 25th and 26th there will be a Builders Expo, Planning and Building
will have a table there. The table will also have information for displaced
residents on how to update their voter registration.
Councilmember Dickinson stated people have a hard time understanding rebuild versus
new build so some clarity on that would be helpful. Additionally, information about how
the FEMA process and how it affects insurance payments would be helpful for
residents.
Councilmember Most stated people in the burn area are getting bills from Xcel that are
not correct. Councilmember Most would like the City to consider hiring a crisis
communications team.
Councilmember Leh stated everyone needs to be careful about putting out any
information that may not be official or confirmed yet.
Adjourned 10:02 am.
Submitted 2117122 Meredyth Muth
