determine whether the amendments shall take effect. Section 6. The amendments to the Louisville Municipal Code provided for herein shall apply to those elected officials whose terms of office begin following the November 2, 1999 election and shall not take effect unless and until a majority of the registered electors voting at said election vote "yes" in response to the following ballot title, which is hereby referred to the registered electors of the City and shall appear on the ballot of the City of Louisville municipal election to be held on November 2, 1999: SHALL PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE, CONCERNING THE SALARIES FOR THE MAYOR, COUNCILMEMBERS, CITY CLERK AND CITY TREASURER, BE AMENDED TO INCREASE THE SALARIES OF THESE ELECTED CITY OFFICIALS AS FOLLOWS: FOR THE MAYOR, FROM TWENTY-FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS PER YEAR TO SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS PER YEAR; FOR EACH COUNCILMEMBER, FROM TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS PER YEAR TO THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS PER YEAR; FOR THE CITY CLERK, FROM ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS PER YEAR TO THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS PER YEAR; AND FOR THE CITY TREASURER, FROM EIGHTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS PER YEAR TO THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS PER YEAR? Section 7. If any article, section, paragraph, sentence, clause, or phrase of this ordinance is held to be unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, such decision shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of the remaining portions of this ordinance. The City Council hereby declares that it would have passed this ordinance and each part or parts hereof irrespective of the fact that any one part or parts be declared unconstitutional or invalid. Section 8. All other ordinances or portions thereof inconsistent or conflicting with this ordinance or any portion hereof are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency or conflict.
