determine whether the amendments shall take effect. <br /> <br /> Section 6. The amendments to the Louisville Municipal Code provided for herein shall <br />apply to those elected officials whose terms of office begin following the November 2, 1999 election <br />and shall not take effect unless and until a majority of the registered electors voting at said election <br />vote "yes" in response to the following ballot title, which is hereby referred to the registered electors <br />of the City and shall appear on the ballot of the City of Louisville municipal election to be held on <br />November 2, 1999: <br /> <br />SHALL PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL <br />CODE, CONCERNING THE SALARIES FOR THE MAYOR, <br />COUNCILMEMBERS, CITY CLERK AND CITY TREASURER, BE AMENDED <br />TO INCREASE THE SALARIES OF THESE ELECTED CITY OFFICIALS AS <br />FOLLOWS: FOR THE MAYOR, FROM TWENTY-FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS <br />PER YEAR TO SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS PER YEAR; FOR EACH <br />COUNCILMEMBER, FROM TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS PER YEAR TO <br />THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS PER YEAR; FOR THE CITY CLERK, FROM <br />ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS PER YEAR TO THREE <br />THOUSAND DOLLARS PER YEAR; AND FOR THE CITY TREASURER, <br />FROM EIGHTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS PER YEAR TO THREE THOUSAND <br />DOLLARS PER YEAR? <br /> <br /> Section 7. If any article, section, paragraph, sentence, clause, or phrase of this ordinance <br />is held to be unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, such decision shall not affect the validity or <br />constitutionality of the remaining portions of this ordinance. The City Council hereby declares that <br />it would have passed this ordinance and each part or parts hereof irrespective of the fact that any one <br />part or parts be declared unconstitutional or invalid. <br /> <br /> Section 8. All other ordinances or portions thereof inconsistent or conflicting with this <br />ordinance or any portion hereof are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency or conflict. <br /> <br /> INTRODUCED, READ, PASSED ON FIRST READING, AND ORDERED <br />PUBLISHED this 20th day of July, 1999. <br /> <br />Tom Davidson, Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
