<br />Building Code Board of Appeals <br />Minutes <br />04/17/09 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />board to read the new 2009 Code Books to be ready to give feedback <br />and input later. He anticipated the adoption process to be at least 3 <br />months to the end of the year. <br /> <br />B. Green Building <br />1. Update National Residential Green Building ANSI 700 <br />Mike Jones reminded everyone that ANSI 700 is a volunteer program. <br />Bob Van Pelt said ANSI 700 was far too complicated. <br />Mike Jones said Dave Johnson (from LRCAB 4.13.9 meeting) thinks he <br />can get ANSI 700 written to one page. <br />2. Update Commercial Green Building ANSI 189.1 <br />Mike Jones said it looks like the Commercial Green Building is going to fall <br />apart. He said he will get the latest minutes from Boulder to see what their <br />interest is. <br />3. Update Boulder County Commercial Code Consortium <br />Mike Jones said that nobody in Boulder can agree on how far to push the <br />commercial code because it impacts business income. He has a builder friend in <br />Boulder who says Green Building add $5000 and a stack of paperwork to every <br />house built, let alone adding costs to potential commercial adoption. <br />4. Green Building discussion Direction for Louisville <br />Mike Jones recapped Andy Johnson's comments from the 4.13.09 LRCAB <br />meeting. Andy Johnson said we do not know what state government officials will <br />do to match funds. Mike added it will take between $30 - 50K total to hire Green <br />Building person at Louisville. <br />5. LRCAB <br />Mike Jones said there is a group in Louisville called "Transition Louisville" <br />who is trying to transition cities to post-fossil fuel era. Andy Johnson (Transition <br />Louisville) is trying to move forward with LRCAB. Transition Louisville seems <br />more interested in the green building envelope as a whole, rather than light <br />bulbs, etc, like LRCAB. He stated that code adoption in and above itself will be a <br />huge step to Green Building. Mike added there is a grant in process at Louisville <br />for approval. <br /> <br />VII. Board of Appeals Comments <br />Gary Mancuso asked for study tabs to be ordered for the new code books. <br />Mike Jones said he would order Turbo Tabs for everyone's books. <br />Bob Van Pelt asked what is the Board's roll in code adoption? <br />Mike Jones responded the Board has the final say & direction for <br />Louisville. <br /> <br />VIII. Staff Comments <br />Mike Jones said at the next meeting we will need to change the bylaws <br />with some administrative clean-up in the following areas: alternate member <br />
