ORDINANCE NO. 1304 <br /> SERIES 1999 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE REGARDING WRITE-IN CANDIDATES <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend Section 2.36.050 of the Louisville <br />Municipal Code regarding procedures for write-in candidates, to help ensure the proper conduct of <br />regular municipal elections. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Subsection 2.36.050 of the Louisville Municipal Code is hereby amended to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />2.36.050 Write-in Candidates: <br /> <br /> In any city election held and conducted in accordance with the Municipal Election Code, no <br />write-in votes for any municipal office shall be counted unless an affidavit of intent has been filed <br />with the city clerk by the person whose name is written in prior to twenty days before the date of the <br />election. The affidavit of intent shall indicate that such person desires the office and is qualified to <br />assume the duties of that office if elected. In any city election held and conducted in accordance with <br />the Uniform Election Code of 1992, the affidavit of intent shall be filed as required by that code. <br /> <br /> Section 2. If any portion of this ordinance is held to be invalid for any reason, wuch <br />decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining protions of this ordinance. The City Council <br />hereby declares that it would have passed this ordinance and each part hereof irrespective of the fact <br />that any one part be declared invalid. <br /> <br /> Section 3. All other ordinances or portions thereof inconsistent or conflicting with this <br />ordinance or any portion hereof are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency or conflict. <br /> <br /> INTRODUCED, READ, PASSED ON FIRST READING, AND ORDERED <br />PUBLISHED this 6th day of July, 1999. <br /> <br />'; T~m Da~-son, ~ayor <br /> <br /> <br />
