<br />CITY ORDINANCE TO COMPLY <br />WITH STATE RE: CHILD CARE <br />IN HOMES <br /> <br />Councilman Ferrera <br /> <br />Vote on the Motion <br /> <br />Doug Fowler <br />Representing Crime Stoppers <br /> <br />6/7/83 <br /> <br />Page -6- <br /> <br />Councilman Leary moved, Councilwoman Morris <br />seconded that the City Attorney be instructed <br />to amend the City Ordinance on child care <br />to conform with the number the State allows <br />then create a Special Review Use to go be- <br />yond that number. <br /> <br />Felt that Councilman Leary was referring <br />to a Day Care Center or Pre-School type es- <br />tablishment on the Special Review Use; also <br />wished to confirm that for licensing homes <br />the number allowed is 6 children. <br />Mrs. Schaefer confirmed the number 6. <br />Ferrera therefore felt the ordinance should <br />be specific for licensed homes - distinguish <br />between homes and Centers or Pre-Schools <br />within a residential area and place a limit <br />on these also. <br />Mrs. Schaefer advised an additional 2 children <br />are allowed before and after school. <br />Councilman Leary agreed with Councilman Ferrera <br />that the distiction should be made in the <br />ordinance; but also felt these should be re- <br />viewed on a case by case basis. Leary further <br />commented he would ask the Attorney not only <br />to review the Statute but also a solution to <br />a problem that is occuring in our City. <br /> <br />Question called for. All in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Fowler explained that the program involved <br />the public, the media and the police in the <br />fight against crime. It offers an imminenty <br />and cash reward for persons who furnish infor- <br />mation leading to 'the arrest and filing of <br />criminal charges against felony crime offenders. <br />It is a non-profit organization funded entirely <br />through public donations. Crime Stoppers at <br />this time is directly responsible for solving <br />two crimes in Louisville - the Blue Parrot <br />robbery and the Safeway robbery last year. <br />Crime Stoppers in Boulder County have parti- <br />cipated in the recovery of $7,636,929.00 <br />worth of property, and have paid out $4,850.00 <br />in cash rewards. Are third in the nation in <br />helping the fight against crime. The Louis- <br />ville Chamber of Commerce held a Las Vegas <br />night for this program and realized $3,500 +. <br />Basically this covers the obligations for the <br />end of this month.
