_,PROVAL

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND
APPEALS - TWO APPOINTMENTS

Councilwoman Morris

Lee Bridgewater Nominated

Councilman Leary

Nomination of Larry E. Beber
and Michael Schnatzmeyer

Councilman Leary

Councilwoman Morris

1/6/83

Page -3-

Councilman Fauson moved, Councilman Cummings
seconded that the Kosher Burrito liquor license
be renewed. Question called for. All in
favor. Motion carried unanimously.

Councilmembers had a copy of letters from
three applicants.

Commented she was under the impression there
were 2 vacancies on the Board - one was ap-
pointed at the last meeting, inquired if there
were 3 vacancies.
Attorney Rautenstraus advised there were 3
vacancies.

Councilman Cummings moved, Councilman Fauson
seconded that Lee Bridgewater be nominated
to fill one of the vacancies on the Board
of Adjustments and Appeals.

Commented he felt there was no information
in }rr. Bridgewater's letter. Would find it
difficult to vote for a candidate without
knowledge of his background or qualifications.
Had been present when the Board was in session
twice, didn't learn on either occasion about
the individual. Was fairly disappointed in
the way some of the members of the Board con-
ducted themselves at the Neodata hearing.
They were fairly abusive to witnesses and
challeging rather than more appropriately
judicial.

Mayor Meier nominated, Councilwoman Morris
seconded the nomination for Larry E. Beber
and Michael Schnatzmeyer to the Board of
Adjustments and Appeals.

Commented in terms of Mr. Beber inquired if
any other councilmembers felt there was some-
what of a conflict of interest with Mr. Beber
as an employee of one of the builders working
in Louisville, and one of the major builders,
serving on this Board.

Commented that she concurred with Councilman
Leary, felt strongly there could be a con-
flict of interest. if the employee was work-
ing in another city other than Louisville
would not be so concerned; however since
he is working in our City had a tremendous
concern.
