<br />City Council/LRC <br />Special Meeting Minutes <br />March 10,2009 <br />Page 2 of 7 <br /> <br />Projects Manager with RTD, Chris Quinn outlined the four design options for the <br />Louisville rail station at South Street along the railroad tracks as follows: <br /> <br />· Option 1: Provides 460 - 510 parking spaces. South Street to Lafayette <br />Street (north); Cannon Street (east); rail tracks (west). This option <br />extends Cannon Street from north to south, and constructs South Street to <br />Highway 42. This option requires acquisition of 12.5 acres owned by two <br />property owners. <br /> <br />· Option 2a: Provides a total of 330 parking spaces with 80 located directly <br />adjacent to the transit station and the remaining 250 spaces located on <br />east side of Highway 42 at sports complex. This option requires <br />acquisition of a1.6 acre parcel owned by one property owner. <br /> <br />· Option 2b: Provides a total of 410 parking spaces with 160 located <br />directly adjacent to the transit station and 250 spaces located on east side <br />of Highway 42 at sports complex. This option requires acquisition of 3 <br />acres owned by two property owners in two parcels. <br /> <br />. Option 3: Provides a total of 400 parking spaces with 80 located directly <br />adjacent to the transit station and the remaining 320 spaces located one <br />to two blocks east of the station. This option requires acquisition of 5.4 <br />acres owned by two property owners in two parcels. <br /> <br />The Louisville Staff prepared an analysis of the pros and cons associated with <br />each design option. City Manager Fleming reviewed the pros and cons of each <br />option. <br /> <br />. Option 1. This option requires a large acquisition of land and the <br />development cost of the parking. Retail would be mitigated by the bus <br />lanes. This option includes a pedestrian underpass on South Street. <br /> <br />. Option 2a utilizes the parking spaces at the Sport Complex and would not <br />require acquisition of land. This option requires expenditure for pedestrian <br />crossing of Hwy 42 This option includes a pedestrian underpass on South <br />Street. <br /> <br />. Option 2b provides more parking adjacent to the station. This option <br />requires expenditure for pedestrian crossing of Hwy 42. This option <br />includes a pedestrian underpass on South Street. <br />
