KOSHER BURRITO - MODIFICATION
OF PREMISES

APPROVAL

AUDIENCE COMMENTS
Dangerous Intersection
at Lincoln & Pine - Students
Attending Elementary School

Mayor Meier

Dave Blanchard, City Engineer

Mrs. Ellen Laurence

9/7/82

Page -2-

Attorney Rautenstraus advised the applica-
tion was in order. The request was for a
minor change - removing some carpeting to
provide for a dance area, and this change
requires Council's approval.

Councilman Cussen moved, Councilwoman Morris
seconded that the Kosher Burrito's modifi-
cation request be approved. Question called
for. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously.

Ellen Laurence, 705 Grant Street, presented
councilmembers with a petition containing
180 signatures to call Council's attention
to a dangerous intersection on Pine Street
for children attending the Elementary School.

Requested that Mrs. Laurence give a brief
summary of the concerns. Meier also advised
her that City Engineer Blanchard is conducting
a study of the area, which is not yet completed.

Mrs. Laurence stated that the group is asking
that the City of Louisville install a pro-
tective safety crossing on Pine St. for the
children that must cross this street to and
from the Elementary School and Memory Square
Park. There isn't a sign on Pine St. indi-
cating there is a school located nearby. The
volume of traffic along Pine St. has increased
dramatically in the last couple of years,
as has the nunilier of heavy equipment that
travels the street. Bascially as parents of
students they would like to prevent a traffic
fatality.

Stated that he wished to take a count of the
school children at different crossing locations,
as well as a traffic count. Advised that he
would have something further to report in a
week or so.

Stated that in speaking with the School
District people, they all agreed that if
an intersection was designated as a protective
crossing for the children, they would definitely
stress and encourage the use of this crossing.
