Parks and Public Landscaping Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />Thursday, April 7, 2022 <br />Louisville City Services <br />739 104t" Street <br />Note: Meeting held in person and electronically <br />7:00 PM start Time <br />1. Roll Call: PPLAB members present Ellen Toon, Shelly Alm, Laurie Hanford, Shannon Mihally, <br />John Webb, Patricia Rogers and Steven Knapp. Also attending Dean Johnson, (Louisville <br />Superintendent of Parks, City Staff Liaison), Deb Fahey (City Council Member), Jan Branham <br />(Louisville City Administrative Assistant), Ember Brignull (Louisville acting Deputy Director of <br />Parks and Open Space), Josh Cooperman (Louisville Sustainability Advisory Committee <br />Member) and three Students from Monarch High School, identified as Sophie, Sophia, and <br />Isabella. PPLAB Secretary Laurie Hartford (PPLAB Secretary) excused absence, John Webb <br />PPLAB Member standing in as PPLAB Secretary. <br />2. Approval of Agenda: Agenda approved <br />3. Approval of minutes: Minutes approved <br />4. Staff Updates <br />a. Working on fire repairs, 4 parks sites and some medians <br />i. DOLA dog park fence, bidding in progress <br />ii. Landscaping damages, moving forward with cleanup and irrigation work <br />b. Summer help still an issue. Looking at additional contract work, recent approval to hire <br />for Parks Keepers Summer part time position 16 - 18 yrs. and above <br />c. Council approved Community Park irrigation repair, repairs on dog park, and eliminate <br />BMX track and replace with sod. Project is estimated to be complete in August. Some <br />issues with construction material supply <br />i. Council has expressed quite a bit of interest in creating a pollinator garden in <br />Community Park. Working out expensive vs. moderate expense installation <br />Council Member Fahey suggested that the Pollinator Park near LMS community <br />garden, which is all volunteer so far, could help with startup and care of <br />Community Park pollinator garden. <br />d. No bids have been returned on Dog Park Fence proposal, will re -post and may combine <br />with overall repairs planned for Community Park <br />e. Council approved Two FTE's Planning to move forward with two park technicians, <br />migrating from seasonal to full time positions. Five applications have been submitted. <br />f. The City has made an offer for an arborist positon, which has been vacant since last <br />December <br />5. Board Updates <br />F, <br />
