Recreation Advisory Board
Minutes
April 25, 2022
David Baril reported that he has talked a couple of times with representatives
of National Golf Foundation. He has received some information and several
reports, but there is still much to be determined.
• Some of the reports have focused on preliminary information, such as
market demographics and local supply and demand.
• There was a previous concern about a gas easement near the clubhouse,
but David has learned that there are no gas pipes in place. The sewer
easement does have sewer pipes running near the building.
• David would like the consultants to provide a complete and concise
summary before our next meeting. He is awaiting a site facility review,
estimates on costs to renovate or build something new, a report on
condition and maintenance, and an agreement on desired square footage.
He has asked the consultants to provide the information two weeks before
our next meeting.
Dick Friedson spoke on behalf of the golf subcommittee to request that the
consultants focus on issues of substance and the determination of cost,
rather than creating fancy pictures.
David Dean reported that renovation or new construction should include
EV stations, adequate cold storage, and a fire suppression system.
The project should also include a restroom on the first five holes.
Updates on Marshall Fire recovery:
• David Dean reported that damaged trees have been removed, hydro
mulching has been completed, and areas damaged by equipment have
been sodded. Some trees will be checked in the future to make sure that
they survive.
• Deb Fahey asked about fire mitigation on the golf course. Some
homeowners with homes next to the course have expressed concerns
about long, dry grass, and have requested mowing. Kathy will figure out
where there are concerns. Some of the parcels of land near the golf
course are actually part of the Parks Department, which complicates the
matter.
David Baril reported that the fire mitigation at the clubhouse is still in
process. A major project will involve removal of the entire deck, stairs, and
railing, so that five damaged 1-beams can be replaced. This will be
followed by construction of a new deck with a new concrete layer on top.
Finally, the stairs and railing will go back on. Kevin Frey, the Facilities
Manager, received three quotes for the work, and the contract is being
awarded. Cart washing, range ball washing, and other jobs will have to be
performed outside during the construction project. Dick Friedson noted
that an additional egress will be needed for the pro shop and offices
during the construction.
Attic insulation will be removed and replaced. The roof has already been
repaired.
