PIERCE, ECONOMIC VITALITY DIRECTOR <br />SUMMARY: <br />In the following, staff provides business and property updates related to activity within <br />the Highway 42 Urban Renewal Area. <br />Recent Business Openings & Closings <br />Staff has received notice that the Chase Bank located at 833 Main Street intends to <br />close on July 19, 2022. Chase owns this property, and they have not yet communicated <br />their future plans. <br />Yoga Junction, previously located at 927 Main Street is under new ownership. The <br />studio has announced plans to relocate to DeLo, at 1065 Courtesy Road. <br />Business Assistance Program (BAP) <br />In early May, the City Manager approved three Business Assistance Agreements, under <br />the new administrative approval process that was created by City Council in 2022. The <br />administrative process allows for assistance, estimated at less than $50,000, to be <br />approved by the City Manager rather than through a public hearing. Staff will provide <br />interim updates to City Council on administrative approvals. The recent approvals <br />included: <br />• The Fitness Team LLC (DBA The Exercise Coach) for a new business at 1075 E. <br />South Boulder Road; <br />• Scherer Violin Shop converting a home -based business to a brick -and -mortar <br />location at 844 Main Street; and <br />• The Simon LLC (DBA The Simon) for a new business at 957 Main Street. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />None. <br />Agenda Packet P. 12 <br />
