LLCe <br />ItY0 Louisville <br />MEMORANDUM <br />To: Open Space Advisory Board <br />From: Open Space Division <br />Date: June 8, 2022 <br />Re: Information Item 5: Staff Updates <br />General: <br />1. Department Director. The new Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Director, Adam <br />Blackmore, is scheduled to start on June 15. <br />2. Senior Natural Resource Specialist. The search team conducted first round interviews with <br />candidates in early June. A second round of interviews with top candidates will follow. <br />3. Senior Open Space Maintenance Specialist. The new maintenance position is now posted <br />at a supervisory level. Applications are due June 10. <br />Marshall Fire Updates Pertaining to Open Space: <br />1. Following City Manager direction, staff will temporarily be mowing a perimeter buffer <br />strip on some segments of public lands adjacent to homes. Public lands include segments <br />of parks, golf course, and open space properties. This work will be conducted by staff and <br />contractors with a goal of a mowing cycle in the summer and late fall. <br />2. Request for Proposals for a Wildfire Mitigation Plan for Public Lands is tentatively <br />scheduled to be posted in June. <br />3. Requests for Bids for Fire Damaged Fences Repairs on Parks & Open Space Lands was bid <br />out a second time. Three bids were received. A contractor will be selected and the Dog <br />off leash area will be scheduled first for repair. <br />4. The Dillon Underpass Retaining Wall Repair contract has been awarded and will begin in <br />June. <br />5. Staff have selected a contractor to conduct botanical surveys on Davidson Mesa to assess <br />the vegetative response to the Marshall Fire. <br />6. Rangers have begun weekend patrols of the Marshall Fire burn areas on behalf of the <br />Planning Department to inspect for right-of-way violations. <br />7. Staff continues to work with FEMA on documentation of fire damaged assets on public <br />lands and volunteer debris removal effort. <br />Trails & Maintenance: <br />1. Staff started trail edge mowing in late May. Currently, trail edge mowing along concrete <br />trails on six properties is complete. Work will continue on concrete trial edges, once <br />concrete trail edges are complete staff will begin mowing crusher fines trail edges. <br />
