See this CIRSA article: <br />https://www.cirsa.org/member resource/colorado-court-of-appeals-weighs-in-on-the- <br />cal li ng-of-executive-sessions-you II-wa nt-to-read-this/. <br />•Be cognizant of other transparency -related risks; e.g., texting, "serial" meetings, etc. <br />Three: Commit to Ethical Conduct <br />•Ethical scandals can be exciting to read about —when they don't involve us! <br />•Become familiar with the City's Code of Ethics (Sections 5-6 through 5-17 of the Home Rule <br />Charter) —make it your "best friend" in addressing ethics matters. <br />•Conflicts of Interest: Main Rule: Disclose, recuse, don't vote, leave the room, and don't influence <br />others either publicly or privately in connection with the matter. <br />•Confidential Information: Don't use for personal or private gain, or for any other personal or <br />private purposes, any information which is not available to the public and which is obtained by <br />reason of your position with the City or disclose any such information except as required by law or <br />for City purposes. <br />•Gifts: Decline any gifts that seem to be connected to your public service and abide by gift rules. <br />3 <br />
