Sustainability Advisory Board Agenda
June 15, 2022
■ Another example would be to promote greater inclusive requirements for new
development plans (with higher mandatory affordable housing proportions) —
now it's 12 percent.
■ Another example would be to adopt mixed -use zoning options (to promote
foot traffic).
■ Ann Marie offered to help in what way she can to promote meaningful
discussions on this in LSAB that might lead to tangible policy reform.
■ Todd: thanked Ann Marie for her time and interest.
6. City Staff Update (Q&A) 6:45 P.M.
Todd asked for key questions.
■ Todd: inquired whether we are still evaluating use of $7,500. Kayla explained
that the plan it to use'/2 for the audit project, and the other '/2 for the municipal
lawn exchange pilot.
■ Josh: asked for clarification on building code meetings on the calendar. Kayla
confirmed the meetings (06/29 community meeting, 07/12 council
presentation, 07/20 consultant virtual presentations to LSAB, and subsequent
09/20 and 10/03 meetings).
■ Todd: asked if there is anything Kayla wants from Board members, other than
LSAB presentation.
■ Kayla: noted Board members should feel free to commit to any of the
meetings, but we'll know more after the community meeting.
■ Josh: asked on committed volunteers for Electrify Your Ride —Kayla will
check numbers.
■ Kayla: mentioned no one is signed up to volunteer for the July or August
Farmer's Market —Megan and Lev committed to 07/09.
■ Josh: explained how the June Farmer's Market went. They handed out a lot
of bags, light bulbs, and some sustainability fliers (with QR codes) —"we
weren't equipped" to get a lot of people involved.
■ Kayla will create a table banner for the next Farmer's Market events and will
update the flier for the events.
■ Lev: asked about low -stakes sponsorship with local business (e.g., Bitter
Sweet gift cards).
■ Todd and Megan: noted that we could have a raffle like in the past for
residents to sign-up for LSAB email list (e.g., raffle for free groceries) —Kayla
confirmed that we have a budget for that. We'll need a paper sign-up for this
(QR code won't confirm this). Drawing will be scheduled for August; maybe
the best way is to get some businesses to donate gift cards. Todd explained
that we need to be sure that we do not give preferential treatment to certain
businesses —Kayla will look into this. Lev suggested "green business status"
as an objective metric for which business we offer gift cards for.
■ Todd: asked if the sustainability flier has a link to Energy Smart. Kayla
confirmed.
■ Megan: asked what our approach is to connect with those who might stop
by —a hook like "what's your sustainability concern or priority?" Kayla said
that we can bring an easel to next Farmer's Market for this.
2
