PH, temperature, TSS, turbidity, color, BOD, COD, toxicity or odor. gal <br />waste disehar-ged inte water- E)r- with water-. <br />Potential contributor means industries which may be classified as categorical <br />industries and the nature of their processes are such that priority pollutants are not <br />discharged under normal operations. This includes anyone storing hazardous <br />materials as defined in this chapter. <br />Pretreatment or treatment means the reduction of the amount of pollutants, <br />the elimination of pollutants, or the alteration of the nature of pollutant properties <br />in wastewater prior to or in lieu of discharging or otherwise introducing such <br />pollutants into a POTW. The reduction or alteration can be obtained by physical, <br />chemical or biological processes or other means, except as prohibited by § 403.6(d). <br />Appropriate pretreatment technology includes control equipment, such as <br />equalization tanks or facilities, for protection against surges or slug loadings that <br />might interfere with or otherwise be incompatible with the POTW. However, where <br />wastewater from a regulated process is mixed in an equalization facility with <br />unregulated wastewater or with wastewater from another regulated process, the <br />effluent from the equalization facility must meet an adjusted pretreatment limit <br />calculated in accordance with § 403.6(e). <br />Pretreatment Program or Program means the City's program, approved by <br />the Approval Authority in accordance with §403.11 of the Federal Pretreatment <br />Regulations, that implements the federal Pretreatment Standards and Requirements <br />and all other Pretreatment Requirements and the City's associated legal authority <br />included herein. <br />Pretreatment requirements means any substantive or procedural requirement <br />related to pretreatment, other than a national pretreatment standard imposed on an <br />industrial user. <br />Pretreatment standards or , or standard means <br />prohibited discharge standards, categorical Pretreatment Standards, and Local <br />Limits. any r-egulatien eantaining pollutant di eh e limits pr-emulga4ed by EPA <br />in uvvvnr <br />rdaf xe with section 307 (b) and (e) o A f the et, .,► ieh applies to industrial <br />w . <br />This t �]es pf ,1 L established � t, § <br />�er'��J�TifST��CC 61�1-bit}v E�ir3c ricrr �CAlTCi.ZiT rC0 <br />403.5. <br />Priority pollutants means any of the various toxic compounds that can <br />reasonably be expected in the discharges from industries as determined by the EPA, <br />pursuant to section 307(a) of the Act (33 USC § 1317(a)). <br />Private sewage disposal system means any sewage disposal system other than <br />public facilities, such as privies, privy vaults, septic tanks, soil absorption systems, <br />cesspools, chemical toilets, package treatment plants or similar facilities which <br />receive or are intended to receive wastewater and which are not connected to the <br />POTW; but this term shall not include any treatment plant which has a valid <br />NPDES permit. <br />10 <br />
