1
The foregoing statements offer a brief overview of the 1985
budget. The budget process was very difficult this year. Even
so, the Council has provided funding for many worthwhile projects
for the next twelve months.
A word of caution is necessary, however, the "soft -spots"
mentioned above cannot be ignored and may very well require mid-
year adjustments in the City's financial program. Plans will be
made available to make those adjustments, should they become
necessary.
Finally, I thank the Mayor and City Council for the interest and
consideration shown to all budget requests. I express my
appreciation for the effort and expertise provided by my fellow
workers in putting all the financial pieces together. A special
expression of thanks is extended to Victoria Hartman, Secretary
for the Finance Department, who typed so many drafts of this
manual and has prepared it for final publication in an
extraordinary manner.
Your approval of this budget is respectfully requested in order
that government may maintain its important position on the
community team that is working for a better Louisville.
Acting City Administrator
