Sustainability Advisory Board Agenda
July 20, 2022
Comment #2
• Tomorrow, 1-5pm is City Council's budget retreat.
• Are there pressing items the sustainability board would like the council to
address for the coming 2 years?
• There will be a public comment section at the beginning, but no discussion
throughout the meeting.
• Response: Retreat is mainly focused on capital improvement requests.
Funds have been submitted for electrification + fleet requests, parks
requests, and facilities upgrades.
• Response: In our comprehensive plan, City of Boulder has a community
values matrix that they run capital improvements through. A way to think
about which plans need to be prioritized. This would be a neat thing to start
thinking about regionally. NIMBY is common, so values are an important
lens when looking at capital improvement projects.
o Critical we at least keep up with surrounding communities.
• Bag tax for restaurants:
o Restaurants' software providers don't have a way for them to charge
for the tax. How can we improve their software or give them another
option for charging?
o Conversations with sales tax are occurring, so we can add this to the
agenda.
6. Energy Code Update
• Phase 2 of the Energy Code project.
o This phase looks at new commercial construction building code
updates.
o Consultants have been conducting energy modeling and we've been
looking at potential policy considerations.
Meeting Outcomes
• Collect LSAB feedback on policy considerations. No final vote or
consensus, just looking for general discussion.
• Building Code Board of Appeals will hear this presentation tomorrow night
(7/21).
• Using all of this feedback, we will draft an ordinance that will outline on of
these policies, this will go to council for feedback/direction, then the
ordinance will come back to LSAB for approval.
City of Louisville Sustainability Goals
• (see slides and Resolution 25, Series 2019)
Why adopt additional code amendments?
2
