Peggy is also hoping to begin a story time at the Kestral facility for the children there.
Sue asked about EFAA transitional housing on Garfield Avenue. Peggy was not aware
of this housing and noted that she and her staff could bring donations to the residence
there instead of a regular check out as it is a transitional facility.
Vill. Ongoing Business
A. Little Free Libraries: Bookmark Marketing
The board discussed providing free bookmarks for the little libraries to provide patrons
with Library information. board members decided to have one side of the bookmark
with information about the library and the other side blank where patrons could leave a
message of gratitude or draw a picture and return it to the little library for other patrons
to use.
B. Superior Board of Trustees update (L. Skladzinski)
Laura shared that the Community Center has become very popular and seen a lot more
traffic over the last few months. There's a lot more programming including free concerts
on Friday and Saturday evenings. The library has also seen a lot more foot traffic.
Sharon shared that the library staff added more easy readers in early chapter books
that are very popular. Perhaps this is because students are on summer vacation.
Lockers are going really well for reserved books for Superior patrons to pick up. Due to
Laura's request Sharon will send out door count and circulation numbers for the superior
branch. Laura wondered if a shorter pickup time should be considered because the
lockers are so popular. Sharon shared that we cannot change the length of time in the
lockers and we should continue to evaluate if more lockers need to be purchased in the
future. At this time the lockers are popular but the number at the Superior Branch serves
patrons' needs. Laura noted lots of positive feedback overall about the library space at
the Community Center. She also wondered about the shelf collection. Sharon shared
that staff regularly go to the Superior branch and bring popular titles that circulate well.
The library staff pulled DVDs because they were not being checked out and added more
adult nonfiction because it circulates well. Overall things are going very well at Superior
and the story time is really expanding with more families attending each week.
C. Library Foundation liaison report
Jaime reported that the Library Foundation still plans on running donated book sales at
some of the farmers markets this summer. Also they are open to a joint meeting with the
Library Board on September 8th. They want to provide the Makerspace with more
materials for 3D printing and digitizing pictures. These two services have become very
popular. The Foundation has also set up an account through Colorado Gives for fire
specific means. This is to help replace collection items that were lost in the Marshall fire
over the winter. The foundation needs new board members.. Unfortunately Library
Board of Trustees members cannot simultaneously serve as Library Foundation board
members.
