Council minutes - page 4 February 19, 1980 LITTLE LEAGUES DISCUSSION CONT'D have gone by in this year, and wrestling will begin again in December. Kenny Ferrera 1153 Adams Ave., stated that when he was on the Park & Rec. board, the City wanted to take over Parks and Recreation and become one entity. He felt that since they have it they should continue on with it. Councilman Meier stated that the reason he han made the remark of a group taking over the programs was because he had been approached by a past member of the group who was still interested. Councilman DelPizzo stated that he wants the coaches and parents to let Council know what they want before he can make any type of statement. Councilman Fauson asked if all program fees would be $25. Mr. Stahl stated that 50% participation fee would be charge; however, it does not mean they would all be $25, some would be lower. Councilman Caranci suggested that Mr. Stahl get together with the coaches and any interested parents to discuss the fees and come back with a report from Council. Councilman Carnival asked Mr. Stahl if he had solicited information from the coaches about the needs of the different programs and the suggested fees. Mr. Stahl stated that he did not realize that that information was going to be needed as he was going on the direction of the Council to charge approximately 50% of the fee to the participant, so he did not solicit input from the coaches or parents. Mr. Stahl stated that they have done an inventory on the equipment and uniforms and this was partly how the figure was derived. Councilman Carnival stated that as the City program stands now, there is no selecting of participants, all children who go out get to participate. John Ray 2400 East St., asked Mr. Stahl why such a great increase in cost. Mr. Stahl stated that there were three more te~ projected to be added.
