PROCLAMATION <br />POPPY DAY IN LOUISVILLE <br />May 20th and 21st, 1977 <br />WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary annually distributes <br />Poppies as a continuing memorial to all veterans of <br />our Armed Forces; and <br />WHEREAS, the proceeds from this annual distribution are used <br />to help defray the medical rehabilitation expenses <br />of veterans; and <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of the city have continued to actively <br />support this program since after World War I; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, John Waschak, Mayor of the City of Louisville, <br />do hereby proclaim May 20th and 21st, 1977, as <br />POPPY DAY IN LOUISVILLE <br />and call upon all citizens, young and old, to continue to support <br />this traditional program by purchasing a Popppy in recognition of <br />all our veterans and in an effort to aid in the rehabilitation of <br />those who are in need of such help. <br />GIVEN under my hand and the Seal of the City of Louisville, this <br />3rd day of May, 1977• <br />V, <br />or <br />
