SENIOR CENTER MONTH <br />WHEREAS, 1997 marks the 54th anniversary of senior centers in our country; and, <br />WHEREAS, one of the most dramatic changes occurring in our country is the aging of <br />our population; and, <br />WHEREAS, every segment of our society will be influenced by the needs, resources <br />and expertise of our older citizens; and, <br />WHEREAS, senior centers have played a vital roll for the past 54 years as service <br />delivery and focal points, helping older persons to help themselves and <br />each other and in offering services or access to community services as <br />needed;and, <br />WHEREAS, Louisville Senior Services provides service to older citizens and their <br />families, affirming the city's commitment to preserve the dignity, self- <br />worth, and independence of older persons by facilitating their decisions <br />and actions, tapping their experience, skills and knowledge, and enabling <br />their continual contributions to the community; and, <br />WHEREAS, the month of May has been declared as Louisville Older Citizens' Month <br />with special recognition planned for older people; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I Mayor Tom Davidson, Mayor of the City of Louisville, do hereby <br />proclaim May 1997 as Senior Center Month in Louisville, Colorado, and call for recognizing the <br />importance of strengthening bonds between all ages and the need for increasing support <br />throughout the community to create a bright vision of future for all generations. <br />DATED this 6th day of May, 1997, <br />t <br />T m Davidson, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Dave Clabots, City Clerk` - <br />
