National Library Week <br />April 14-20, 1996 <br />WHEREAS, America's libraries and librarians play a vital role in connecting millions of <br />people with the resources they need to live, learn and work in an Information <br />Society; and <br />WHEREAS, libraries are the gateway to imagination, achievement and entertainment; and <br />WHEREAS, today's public, school and college libraries provide a wealth of multimedia <br />resources including books, magazines, videotapes, computers and more; and <br />WHEREAS, libraries are the public's on -ramps to the information superhighway, ensuring <br />equal access to all; <br />WHEREAS, libraries are one of our great democratic institutions, helping people of all ages <br />and backgrounds to lead better lives; and <br />WHEREAS, libraries and library supporters across America and beyond are celebrating <br />National Library Week, April 14 through 20, with the theme, "Libraries Change <br />Lives. Call. Visit. Log on." <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, Tom Davidson, Mayor do hereby <br />proclaim National Library Week, April 14-20, 1996, in the City of Louisville, Colorado and <br />encourage all residents to use their library for the purpose of improving their lives and join me in <br />thanking our librarians for the valuable and helpful services that they provide our community. <br />Tom Davidson, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Dave Clabots, City Clerk <br />
