FAIR HOUSING MONTH <br />April 1996 <br />WHEREAS, fair housing is a principle of civil right which secures the right to live where one <br />chooses, to raise a family, invest personal resources and live in comfort and <br />tranquility; and <br />WHEREAS, the passage of the Federal Housing Act of 1968, and Colorado laws have <br />affirmed the right of every American to access to housing free of barriers based <br />on race, ethnic background, or religion, handicap or familial status, or sex; and <br />WHEREAS, opportunity to choose to live in a neighborhood or community free of barriers <br />based on race, religion or ethnic background, handicap or familial status or sex, <br />has a substantially favorable impact on the economy, lifestyle and fabric of the <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, Fair Housing Month traditionally has been noticed during the month of April to <br />remind citizens of their duty and obligations to encourage fair housing and fight <br />discrimination, as well as the benefits of unrestricted access to housing; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the policy of this body to recognize and encourage fair housing in this <br />municipality and throughout all of Boulder County. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the City Council and the citizens of Louisville, 1, Tom <br />Davidson, Mayor of the City of Louisville, Colorado, by virtue of the authority vested in me, do <br />hereby proclaim the month of April 1996 <br />FAIR HOUSING MONTH <br />with the knowledge that continued vigilance against discrimination in all its forms will benefit <br />the citizens of this city in building a strong and cohesive identity and spirit. <br />Tom Davidson, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />-Dave Clabots, City Clerk <br />
