SENIOR CENTER MONTH <br />MAY 1995 <br />WHEREAS, 1995 marks the 53rd anniversary of senior centers in our country; and, <br />WHEREAS, one os the most dramatic changes occurring in our country is the aging of our <br />population; and, <br />WHEREAS, every segment of our society will be influenced by the needs, resources and <br />expertise of our older citizens; and, <br />WHEREAS, senior centers have played a vital roll for the past 53 years as service delivery and <br />focal points helping older persons to help themselves and each other, and in <br />offering services or access to community services as needed; and, <br />WHEREAS, Louisville Senior Services provides services to older citizens and their families, <br />affirming the city's commitment to preserve the dignity, self-worth, and <br />independence of older persons by facilitating their decisions and actions, tapping <br />their experience, skills and knowledge, and enabling their continual contributions <br />to the community; and, <br />WHEREAS, the month of May has been declared as Louisville Older Citizen's Month with <br />special recognition planned for older people; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mayor Tom Davidson do hereby proclaim May 1995 as: <br />SENIOR CENTER MONTH <br />in Louisville, Colorado, and call for recognizing the importance of strengthening bonds between <br />all ages and the need for increasing support throughout the community to create a bright vision of <br />the future for all generations. <br />Tom Davidson, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />
