PROCLAMATION <br />NATION FLAG DAY <br />June 14, 1986 <br />WHEREAS, by Act of the Congress of the United States dated June 14, <br />1977, the first official flag of the United States was adopted; and <br />WHEREAS, by Act of Congress dated August 3, 1949, June 14 of each <br />year was designated "National Flay Day;" and <br />WHEREAS, the Congress has requested the President to issue annually <br />a proclamation designating the week in which June 14 occurs as <br />National Flay Week; and <br />WHEREAS, on December 8, 1982, the National Flag Day Foundation was <br />chartered to conduct educational programs and to encourage all <br />Americans to PAUSE FOR THE PLEDGE of Allegiance as part of National <br />Flag Day ceremonies; and <br />WHEREAS, the President of the United States at the national <br />ceremony held in Baltimore, Maryland, on June 14, 1985, led the <br />Pledge of Allegiance; and <br />WHEREAS, the Congress and the President of the United States <br />officially declared by Resolution that 1986 is the Year of the <br />Flag; and <br />WHEREAS, Flag Day celebrates our nation's symbol of unity and <br />stands for our country's devotion to freedom to the rule of all and <br />the equal rights of all: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I Herman "Herm" Fauson, Mayor, City of Louisville, <br />Colorado, do hereby proclaim June 14, 1986, as Flag Day in Colorado <br />and urge all citizens of Colorado to pause at 7:00 p.m. EDT on this <br />date for the Seventh annual PAUSE FOR THE PLEDGE and recite with <br />all Americans the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag and Nation. <br />In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and <br />caused the seal of this city to be affixed <br />Mayor C1 Late <br />
