A PROCLAMATION PROCLAIMING NOV 24TH - 30TH <br />FAMILY CAREGIVERS' WEEK <br />WHERE.03, unpaid family members, not government, provide <br />most day-to-day care of the chroriaally ill and of the frail <br />elderly; and <br />WHEREAS, the majority of primary family caregivers are <br />women --spouses, daughters, daughters -in-laws and sisters; and <br />WHEREAS, many of the women must quit work to lecome full -lime <br />caregivers, drastically rearrange their work schedules or work <br />fewer hours because of caregiver responsibilities; nod <br />VAE?EAS, many caregivers are in poor health themselves? <br />yet must shoulder the enormous physical, emotional and financial <br />burden of caregiving; and <br />WHEREAS, the role of the spouse as a principal caregiver <br />has generally been understated; and <br />WHEREAS, family caregivers need information about community <br />resources and respite from the strains of their caregiving roles; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, more public attention needs to be focused on the <br />majo7 contributions that family caregivers make to continuance <br />of the family unit, as well as to their problems and sacrifices' <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the United States Congress has 0tablished the <br />week of November 24 - 3w as National Family Caregivers' Week; <br />-, n d <br />WHEREAS, the national OLDER WOMEN'S LEAGUE, along with <br />the Fes_}ONT RAN7E chapter; has chosen respite for caregivers as <br />one of their key agenda issues. <br />N+-jl=l, THEREF RE, WE, HERM PAUSON, Mayor, and tho CIT`F COUNCIL <br />of the City of Louisville, Colorado do hereby declare November <br />24-30 , 1 ?26 ss : <br />FAMILY CAREGIVERS' WEER:: <br />in t-,e ';ity of Louisville, Colorado and urge all citizens to <br />_observe this week: with app -opriate ceremonies and ak tivities. <br />/� �fstdyc <br />Mayor <br />ATT <br />City C' _ rk <br />
