A PROCLAMATION <br />Whereas, Children's Book Week was established. in 1919 by <br />Franklin Matthiews, Librarian of the Boy Scouts of <br />America, with the goal of "More Books in the <br />Home", and <br />Whereas, Children's Book Week -is set aside each year in <br />November to promote the interest of young people <br />in reading good books, and <br />Whereas, 1988 marks the 69th anniversary of National <br />Children's Book Week, and <br />Whereas, the Louisville Public Library is celebrating <br />Children's Book Week with the theme "Wish upon a <br />Book", and <br />Whereas, all efforts should be aimed at making.. certain we <br />have a 100% literate population, starting with our <br />children, <br />Therefore, I, Herm Fauson, Mayor of the City of Louisville, <br />proclaim the week of November 14, 1988, Children's <br />Book'Week in the City of Louisville. <br />Herman Fauson, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Pam Ferri, Ci Clerk <br />
