Proclamation <br />from the <br />Office of the Mayor <br />National Family Week <br />November 20-26, 1988 <br />WHEREAS, the United States Congress and the President of the United States, <br />as a means to encourage wholesome family life, traditionally proclaim the week in <br />which Thanksgiving Day falls as "National Family Week'; and <br />WHEREAS, the family unit bonded by love, understanding, common interests <br />and endeavors is the basis of the strength of our community and our nation; and <br />WHEREAS, each individual's character, happiness and future success are <br />largely determined by the enviornment within the home; and <br />WHEREAS, family love and solidarity provide each member of the family unit <br />the strength to face the stress and strain of everyday life and the uncertainty of <br />tomorrow; and <br />WHEREAS, it is fitting that official recognition be given to the importance of <br />family loyalties and ties as essential ingredients to the continued strength and well- <br />being of our city and our nation. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Herman F a u s o n Mayor of the Cityof <br />Louisville , on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim the week of <br />November 20 through 26, 1988, as <br />"NATIONAL FAMILY WEEK" <br />in the City of Louisville and urge all family members to join <br />together to strengthen their home life through devotion, love, understanding and the <br />enjoyment of working and living as a family unit. <br />DATED: September 26, 1988 <br />signature of Mayor <br />
