PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, Music In Our Schools Month is designed to bring <br />about a renewed recognition of the vital place of <br />music in education; and <br />WHEREAS, music is a powerful aesthetic force that dignifies <br />the realm of feeling by merging intellect and <br />emotion in the search for a humane way of life; and <br />WHEREAS, music is a basic influence in the lives of millions <br />of people who participate in performing and <br />listening experiences developed through music in the <br />schools; and <br />WHEREAS, Music In Our Schools Month is a special opportunity <br />for citizens to understand and support the ongoing <br />processes of music education; and <br />WHEREAS, it is fitting for the City of Louisville to <br />recognize music in our schools as an essential part <br />of the learning process and to encourage and support <br />this significant art that is a powerful channel for <br />the innermost feelings and responses of every child; <br />now, <br />THEREFORE, I, Herman Fauson, Mayor of the City of Louisville, <br />do hereby proclaim the month of March 1989 as <br />MUSIC IN OUR SCHOOLS MONTH <br />Herman Fauson, Mayor <br />Attest: <br />Pam Ferris, ty Clerk <br />
