a <br />Per City Council Meeting Minutes this <br />proclamation was read during the January 7, 1986 <br />Council meeting <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, January 20, 1986, marks the first observance of the federal <br />legal holiday, established'by Public Law No. 98-144, to honor the <br />birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; and <br />WHEREAS, January 20, 1986, marks the first commemoration and observance <br />of the State of Colorado's legal holiday established by House Bill No. <br />1201 in the 1984 session, to honor the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther <br />Kings, Jr.; and <br />WHEREAS, This holiday should serve as a time for Americans to reflect <br />upon the principles of racial equality and nonviolent social change <br />espoused by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; and <br />WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City of Louisville to coordinate its <br />efforts with those of the State of Colorado, Towns, Counties, School <br />District, and other local governmental entities and with private <br />organizations within Colorado in the first observance of the Federal and <br />State Legal Holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City of Louisville, Colorado, that <br />January 20, 1986, is hereby established in the City of Louisville, as <br />the-day.to honor the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City encourages appropriate observances <br />and activities to ensure the observance and commemoration of this <br />Holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. <br />Norbert A.
