Per City Council Meeting Minutes this proclamation <br />was read during the May 6, 1986 Council meeting <br />PROCLAMATION <br />NATIONAL POLICE WEEK - POLICE MEMORIAL DAY <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE <br />Whereas, The Congress of the United States of America has designated May 15 <br />of each year to be "Police Memorial Day," and also established the <br />week in which the date falls as "National Police Week," and <br />Whereas, the Law Enforcement Officers are our guardians of life and property, <br />defenders of the individual rights to be free men, and dedicated to <br />the preservation of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and, <br />Whereas, the City of Louisville desires to honor the valor, service and ded- <br />ication of its own Police Officers, <br />Now, Therefore, I, Herm Fauson, Mayor of the City of Louisville, <br />Colorado, do hereby proclaim the week of May 11 - 17, 1986, to be <br />Police Week and call upon all our citizens in this community to <br />especially honor and show our sincere appreciation for the Police <br />Officers of this City by deed, remark and attitude. I call upon <br />all our citizens to make every effort to express their thanks to <br />our men and women who make it possible for us to leave our homes <br />and family in safety each day and to return to our homes knowing. <br />they are protected by men and women willing to sacrifice their <br />lives, if necessary, to guard our loved ones, property and govern- <br />ment against all those who would violate the law. <br />Dated this 15th day of April, 1986 <br />MAYOR <br />
