Per City Council Meeting Minutes this <br />proclamation was read during the May 17, 1988 <br />-- Council meeting <br />(9%w of Ae mayor <br />Vrorlamatt'on <br />c7s2�1 <br />WHEREAS, the problem of elder abuse affects a significant number of elders in <br />the City of Louisville; and <br />WHEREAS, all members of a family in which elder abuse occurs suffer as its <br />victims; and <br />WHEREAS, the Boulder County Department of Social Services offers a range of <br />services for adults and families, including adult protective services; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to prevent elder abuse, we must first acknowledge that it <br />exists and become aware of its signs and symptoms; and <br />WHEREAS, during the past year, S.A.F.E. (Support and Advocacy for Elders), <br />working through the senior centers in Boulder County, has trained more than <br />1500 professionals and volunteers who work with the elderly to identify and <br />report elder abuse; and <br />WHEREAS, the two-day conference, BREAKING THE CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE, which <br />is being held in Longmont, Colorado on May 13-14, 1988, is an important <br />opportunity for other members of the community to learn more about violence <br />against the elderly; and <br />WHEREAS, we wish to acknowledge and support the efforts of Louisville families <br />whose loving care enables older family members to continue to live in our <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, we want all citizens of Louisville to know that help is available to <br />older people and their families through the Louisville Senior Center; <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the week of May 15-21, 1988, shall be known <br />as ELDER ABUSE PREVENTION WEER in Louisvill�o Colorado <br />osa lor ow4tteof gave he scurtto act Trey <br />gram ""d cauacd A-1 atat to Ac affixed. <br />AT TEST: <br />...,...
