DRUNK and DRUGGED DRIVING AWARENESS WEEK <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE <br />Per City Council Meeting <br />Minutes this proclamation was <br />read during the December 5, <br />1989 Council meeting <br />WHEREAS, traffic accidents in 1988 were the cause of death for approximately <br />497 people in Colorado, and a large percentage of those accidents were alcohol <br />related; and <br />WHEREAS, in addition, thousands of people in Colorado have been seriously <br />injured and maimed by the drunk driver; and <br />WHEREAS, through the dedication and persistence of citizen groups, public <br />awareness of the drunken driving problem has been heightened; and <br />WHEREAS, the need to increase awareness of the problem of drunken driving <br />in order to help sustain current efforts to develop comprehensive solutions at <br />the state and local level has prompted the Senate and House of Representatives <br />of the United States to designate the week of December 10 through December 16, <br />1989 as "National Drunk and Drugged Driving Awareness Week"; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Herm Fauson, hereby proclaim the <br />week of December 10 through 16, 1989, as Drunk and Drugged Driving Awareness <br />Week in Louisville. <br />FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that all citizens of Louisville are urged to join <br />in the observance of drunk and drugged driving awareness week. <br />
