UNITED NATIONS DAY PROCLAMATION <br />OCTOBER 24, 2016 <br />Whereas, the United Nations was founded in 1945, and the anniversary of the day on <br />which the UN Charter came into force is observed each year on October <br />24; and <br />Whereas, the United Nations promotes peace and security, development, <br />democracy, economic prosperity, global health and human rights around <br />the world; and <br />Whereas, the United Nations works to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, <br />by providing a common development strategy for the international <br />community, improving coordination, coherence, and effectiveness within <br />the UN system, the donor community and developing countries; and <br />Whereas, the United States has a long tradition of leading international efforts to <br />improve health, education and economic growth in developing countries; <br />and has shown its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals; <br />and <br />Whereas, the United Nations Association of the USA has declared "One Humanity, <br />Shared Responsibility" as its theme to bring awareness of and support for <br />the global refugee crisis and other humanitarian emergencies around the <br />world, for the 2016 United Nations Day commemoration; <br />Whereas, the United Nations Association of Boulder County is committed to educating <br />and mobilizing our local communities to build a stronger network of global <br />citizens and leaders to create a more prosperous, just and sustainable world; <br />Now therefore, I, Robert P. Muckle, mayor of Louisville, Colorado do hereby proclaim <br />October 24, 2016 to be United Nations Day in Louisville and urge residents to <br />participate in activities related to United Nations Day. <br />DATED this 18th day October 2016 <br />ATTEST: <br />MEAL J <br />Robert P.
