ALS Awareness Month <br />May 2004 <br />WHEREAS, the ALS Association is the only national not -for -profit voluntary health organization <br />dedicated solely to the fight against ALS; and, <br />WHEREAS, the ALS Association is lighting the way for a treatment and cure for ALS through <br />research, patient and community services, public education and advocacy; and, <br />WHEREAS, the ALS Association's mission is to find a cure for and to improve living with ALS <br />(amyotrophic lateral sclerosis); and, <br />WHEREAS, the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the ALS Association was chartered on February 1, 1996 <br />to provide help and hope to those Coloradoans facing the diagnosis of ALS; and, <br />WHEREAS, nationwide, the month of May has been designated by the Congress of the United States as <br />ALS Awareness Month. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Charles L. Sisk, Mayor of the City of Louisville, <br />Colorado, along with the City Council do hereby proclaim May 2004 as ALS Awareness Month and <br />encourage all Coloradoans to support the efforts of the ALS Association and actively work to Strike Out <br />ALS by volunteering their time to the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the ALS Association during May 2004 <br />and beyond. <br />DATED this 4" day of May, 2004 <br />Charles L.
