PROCLAMATION OF MAY 17, 2015 <br />AS LOUISVILLE CELEBRATION OF POETRY DAY <br />IN HONOR OF JULIA FALKNER <br />WHEREAS: Louisville resident and Monarch High School senior Julia Falkner is one <br />of five students named as National Student Poets for the 2014-2015 <br />school year; and <br />WHEREAS: Eligibility for the National Student Poets Program is limited to student <br />winners of a National Gold or Silver Medal in poetry in the Scholastic Art <br />& Writing awards, the longest -running, most prestigious recognition <br />program for creative teens in the United States; <br />WHEREAS: National Student Poets serve as ambassadors who bring poetry to people <br />of all ages; and <br />WHEREAS: The creation and appreciation of poetry by people of all ages is important <br />to the cultural life of our community; and <br />WHEREAS: The Comprehensive Plan of the City of Louisville calls for the promotion <br />and advancement of the arts and culture as a constituent of the quality of <br />life in our community; <br />WHEREAS: Julia Falkner and the Louisville Public Library will offer a multi - <br />generational workshop and poetry reading on Sunday, May 17, from 2:00 <br />PM — 4:30 PM; <br />Now, therefore, I, Robert Muckle, Mayor of Louisville, Colorado, do hereby proclaim May <br />17, 2015, Louisville Celebration of Poetry Day in honor of Julia Falkner and urge public <br />officials, educators, librarians, merchants, and all the citizens of Louisville to honor the <br />accomplishments of Julia Falkner and observe this day and to celebrate the cultural <br />riches our community has to offer. <br />DATED <br />this 21stday of April 2015 <br />Robert P.
