Planning Commission
Meeting Minutes
June 23, 2022
handling it at a later date. He brings up an issue of snow removal and where that
placement should be.
Ellen Kirk, 1052 Maria Ln
Kirk says the number from the trip study is not a comprehensive impact study and not
done by an objective party. There is a lack of objectivity in those numbers. City staff
said that the City engineers did not think the percentage of the additional number would
cause a problem with the traffic. That assumes that there is no current traffic issues but
this is a current issue. During drop off and pick up at the middle school, we cannot go
west on Griffith St. She is a cyclist and has difficulty getting out of her driveway and
going from Cannon St to Highway 42.
Sherry Sommer, 910 S Palisade Ct
Sommer says everyone likes to be outside but is unsure if the pickleball court will
always be a popular sport. She thinks this should be open space and more beneficial for
all the neighbors. She mentions the importance of reducing the heat generating from all
the asphalt. She asks the commission to disapprove the density waiver. She asks what
the trigger is for a full traffic study, and how do you know what is significant enough?
Michelle Smither, 1045 Johnson Ln
Smither says she is shocked that there is no comprehensive traffic study and urges the
commission to request one from the applicant. There have been a number of wrecks on
Griffith St and Cannon St because of the difficulty of seeing when pulling out of the road
and making the turn. She urges to change the pickleball space to be open space for dog
walkers.
Tom Deany, 1090 Griffith St
Deany says he has submitted two letters. He agrees with all the public comment
mentioned so far. He is concerned with traffic and the added traffic from this proposed
development. He says that there should be a traffic study from Griffith St to Highway 42.
Funneling all the cars to go through Cannon St is a mistake. Increasing the density
makes no sense to him.
Lindsay Denault, 1074 Griffith St
Denault says she also submitted two letters and agrees with the public comments.
Doubling the density seems unreasonable and is unsure why there is a demand for
more commercial space. Diminishing the green space is an irresponsible decision. The
traffic on Griffith St is shocking and there are constant flows of cars. She asks for a
legitimate traffic study.
Mark Gasper, 1014 Johnson Ln
Gasper says he does not understand why the City would want to increase density in
this area. Based on the number of bedrooms proposed and the current apartment
complex, how many parked cars are we expecting and real parking spots? People will
park on Cannon St and Griffith St. Louisville Tire takes up every parking spot. He does
not understand where the cars will be parked. He also mentions how unsafe it is to turn
left.
Bruce Bernhardt, 1079 Leonard Ln
