Note: The General Maintenance and Management Plan includes two documents: the Summary of <br />Findings and Annual Work Plan Template. The Summary of Findings includes an executive summary and <br />recommendations, as well as a series of appendices. The Annual Work Plan Template is currently being <br />used by Parks Superintendent Abby McNeal to develop an approach to tracking tasks and functions of <br />Parks. The Annual Work Plan Template also includes as appendices a series of tools to assist in the <br />inventory of all assets and in monitoring targeted levels of service for each asset. <br />Executive Summary and Key Recommendations <br />The City of Louisville parks system is continually cited by local residents as one of the most cherished <br />assets of the city. The system includes a complex range of amenities available to Louisville residents, <br />including over 300 acres of dedicated park land, playgrounds, athletic fields, recreation amenities <br />including an outdoor swimming pool and splash pad, the cemetery, the 18-hole municipal golf course, <br />and civic facilities. Each of these amenities contributes to the quality of life of Louisville residents. The <br />City of Louisville initiated the 2022 General Maintenance and Management Plan to ensure that Parks <br />assets are thoughtfully maintained and managed, and that funding allocations and annual budgets meet <br />the needs of the department. <br />Guiding each decision is the City of Louisville Vision Statement: <br />Established in 1878, the City of Louisville is an inclusive, family friendly community that <br />manages its continued growth by blending a forward -thinking outlook with a small-town <br />atmosphere which engages its citizenry and provides a walkable community form that <br />enables social interaction. The City strives to preserve and enhance the high quality of <br />life it offers to those who live, work, and spend time in the community. Louisville retains <br />connections to the City's modest mining and agricultural beginnings while continuing to <br />transform into one of the most livable, innovative, and economically diverse <br />communities in the United States.
